Disney World Vacation (Day Three) Epcot

4.10.18

We were all watching the weather reports for Orlando for this day as rain was forecasted since about a week before. Above was on my weather app the morning we woke up to go to Epcot. Epcot is the park with the iconic ball. All I ever knew about it was what everyone always said: It's the one with the ball and all the countries.

I pictured the ball being a large indoor mall where all of the different countries are represented. Not at all the case. The ball is at the north end of the park where most of the rides are, and the countries are all represented in a horseshoe around the south end of the park.

By today we had figured out the free bus system to take us to and from the parks. There were some clouds in the sky, but the weather was okay upon arrival. I rented my scooter before the park opened, and we were allowed to wait with the other people on scooters, whom they let into the park first. When the park opened we were first on the ride Spaceship Earth. It's a slow boat ride past exhibits featuring innovations from the stone age to the digital age (from the brochure). Ozzie LOVED this ride, and even rode it again with Grandma before leaving.

It started to feel like it was going to rain. We all put on our ponchos, and suddenly I saw a lightning crack and the skies opened up. Everybody ran for cover, and I drove my scooter under a walking bridge getting soaked along the way. It felt like an inch of rain fell in about five minutes.

We all met in the gift shop of the next activity: Turtle Talk with Crush. It was still raining, but not the torrential downpour that I sat in for about 10 minutes. We had lunch reservations in the Italy section of all of the countries. Basically we had to get from the top of the park to the farthest point at the bottom of the park in the rain.

They went one direction, and I rode my scooter through standing water, and mud to Italy. We had good Italian food for lunch, but all of our shoes and socks were drenched. Completely soaked through.

We went through each of the countries represented in Epcot. Each features food and shopping from the country represented. I feel like these countries are more of an attraction for women, and I didn't care for it. Ozzie was extremely patient and well-behaved the whole trip, but especially here where there aren't a lot of kid-friendly activities.

We waited in Morocco to get another picture of Ozzie with Jasmine from Aladdin. When we saw her, it was a different actor than the night before; not nearly as pretty, so we got out of line.

I didn't get a lot of pictures this day because it was so rainy, but Megan and I had a nice dinner at a restaurant in France while Grandma took Ozzie back to our resort.

This was the best dessert I ate all week

Epcot was open for two extra 'magic' hours this night. Extra magic hours are for guests staying on Disney property, as we were. We saw the fireworks at 21:00, and then stayed until the park closed; my feet were still wet from the soaking earlier.

Mama and I were at Epcot for 13.5 hours today. I'm glad I saw it, and that it rained this of all the days, but if I took another Disney trip I wouldn't go to Epcot. If I won a trip to Epcot, I wouldn't go.

Tomorrow: Disney's Hollywood Studios
